1. Who Writes and Maintains This Content

Content across this site is researched, written and maintained by the LEXNOVA Content & Research Team, an editorial function within LEXNOVA.

The pages covering UAE legal topics — the Legal Guides, the Legal Help pages, the Find a Lawyer pages and the notary and attestation pages — are general information for people who want to understand a legal situation before they speak to a qualified legal professional.

2. How Research Is Done

Legal statements on those pages are based on official sources: the legislation itself, the courts, the ministries and regulators, and official government portals. Where a law is available in its own text, the team reads that text rather than a summary of it.

Where no official source supports a point, the point is left out.

3. Source Hierarchy

When sources differ in weight, the team relies on them in this order: first, the legislation in its official published text — for federal law, the UAE legislation portal, uaelegislation.gov.ae; second, the courts; third, the regulator responsible for the subject; and fourth, official government portals such as u.ae.

The text of a law always outranks a summary of it, including an official summary.

4. Review for Legal Accuracy

Before a page covering a UAE legal topic is published, and again at each review date shown on the page, it is reviewed for legal accuracy by LEXNOVA's team of lawyers. The review checks that the general information on the page correctly describes the law, the procedure or the authority it refers to.

This review is a check on the accuracy of general information. It is not legal advice, and it does not take any reader’s individual circumstances into account. For advice on a specific matter, speak to a qualified legal professional.

5. What "Last Reviewed" Means

Each page covering a UAE legal topic shows a "Last reviewed" date: the date on which the page was most recently reviewed as described above. The same date is published in the page’s structured data.

The date records when the page was last checked. It is not a promise that the law has not changed since; if you are relying on a point for a decision, confirm the current position with a qualified legal professional.

6. When a Law Changes

LEXNOVA keeps a register that links the main legal instruments cited on its pages to the pages that cite them. When an instrument in that register is amended, replaced or repealed, the pages linked to it are identified and re-checked.

Pages are also due for a routine re-check at an interval set by how quickly the law they rely on moves: 91 days where it depends on fast-moving regulation, 182 days where the subject changes from time to time, and 365 days otherwise, counted from the page’s "Last reviewed" date.

7. Corrections

If you believe a page is inaccurate, out of date or unclear, write to info@lexnova-uae.com with the page address and the point in question.

8. Not Legal Advice

LEXNOVA is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, legal opinions or legal representation. Nothing on this site is a substitute for advice from a qualified legal professional who knows the facts of your matter. Any legal advice or representation is provided directly by the independent legal professional you engage, not by LEXNOVA.
